FUNDING SUPPORT

ICPAE can provide sponsorship with limited financial support from IAMAS and IUGG to host topical meetings.  Proposals are generally solicited annually in October and sent to the IAMAS Bureau for consideration.

IUGG SUPPORT

The program of IUGG support for scientific meetings (e.g. workshops, advanced schools, symposia) is one of the most important means by which the Union and its Associations pursue a goal of promoting geophysics and geodesy through international collaboration. A fraction of the IUGG's budget is devoted to the support of these scientific meetings.  The number of co-sponsored meetings ranges from 10 to 15 (up to US$3,000 each).

Limited funding is available from the IUGG for symposia, workshops and summer schools dealing with topics covered by the IUGG and ICPAE.  The IUGG support guidelines can be found here. Any ICPAE member wishing to bid for IUGG support should contact the bureau, who will assist in writing a proposal to be sent to the IAMAS Bureau (this typically needs to be done at least one week before the deadline).

Within 2 months after the meeting, a meeting report must be sent to the IUGG Secretary-General via the ICPAE Bureau and must contain:

(i) a brief technical report summarising the scientific highlights of the meeting (1-2 page);
(ii) a copy of the final scientific program;
(iii) a list of participants, including their distribution on gender and country;
(iv) a list of recipients of IUGG grants, stating amount, country, age, and gender.

IAMAS SUPPORT

In addition to the IUGG support described above, ICPAE members are also eligible to request support for meetings, symposia, etc. from IAMAS.  Written requests should be sent by email to the ICPAE bureau.  There are no formal deadlines for this, each proposal will be assessed within a few weeks of submission.
